If you have a DeskJet plugged into a parallel card, which in turn is
plugged into the slot corresponding to the printer port, and you print to
the DeskJet using a parallel card driver from Harmonie, you can indeed have
an Imagewriter plugged into the printer port, and leave the slot set to
printer (ROM 01 machines). Harmonie's parallel card driver sees the card
even when the slot is set for the printer port, it does _not_ have to be
set to "Your Card". And, when you switch to an 8 bit application (like
Appleworks) or PrintShop GS, it will automatically print to the Imagewriter
you have connected to the printor port. Kind of like automatic switching.
If you want to print to the Imagewriter while in GS/OS, then it is a simple
matter just to switch printers via the Printer Control Panel (pick the
Imagewriter driver and pick the Printer Port driver). No rebooting is
required.
