I for one have had copy protected software go bad, and then found that I
could not replace the software. The company had either gone out of
business or no longer had a replacement copy of the software. I like to be
able to freely make backup copies and use the software on any number of
machines I own. I have had to have a friend of mine remove copy protection
from some of the software that I own so that I could back it up. It has
been so much of a hassel, that I refuse to buy software that is copy
protected. There are plenty of titles readily available that do not have
copy protection. All it does is make it difficult for honest people, while
the pirates crack it and distribute it anyways.
