If you're upset that your local newspaper has next to nothing about the
Shoemaker-Levy 9 comet impact on Jupiter, and are tired of spinning the
TV dials, and turning up empty handed, have no fear...all the information
you want is here on the net.
For the first time ever, the World Wide Web is the focal point for
planetary data being transmitted from outer space.
There are several distribution points, but the 2 largest seem to be:
http://newproducts.jpl.gov/ and
http://seds/lpl.arizona.edu
Those 2 www sites do provide links to other comet home pages.
You may have to be persistant. On Sunday, you could download photos of
the impact a full 24 hours before those pics were printed in the
newspaper. However, on Monday (7/18) everyone is trying to access the
comet home pages, and you may get the equivalent of a www "busy signal".
There are some incredible photos you can already download.
