The following is hearsay, and may be completely wrong.  :-)

There is a commercial application on the Mac called Metamorphosis Pro,
which can turn Windows TrueType fonts into Macintosh ones.

The main difference between Windows and Mac TT fonts is the Mac font
has all of the font data in a resource, plus some additional resources
which are required by the Mac system software (and Pointless).  The
Windows TT font has the main part of the font data in the data fork.

You have to generate the missing information when transforming a
Windows TT font into a Mac one.  Going the other way is probably easier.


Can anyone confirm the above information?
