I always did it from a Bouncing Apple (SysFailMgr) Screen by holding down
all of the Modifiers (Shift-Control-Apple-Option) and hitting N.
As far as looking for the sound, take NiftyList and disasseble SysFailMgr
to figure out where it is calling the Sound Routines. Or just dump the ROMS
to a file, and cut out the "noise" that is the code. :-)
