datalink modem help?

I am having trouble with a Datalink 1200 modem I have been using for the last
four years on my Apple ][gs.  All of a sudden it starts giving me an error
statement when I try to load DataTerm. It is telling me that I must have a 
Datalink modem to run it, so I am assuming it simply can't find it.

The people at Apple told me that Applied Engineering is out of business and
that they have no idea of why it is malfunctioning. Anybody out there who can
help?
