(Quick update on the software-emulator...)

Oops, better correct myself! I just discovered it actually _is_
and ALF player afterall (though it still likes most Phasor music files and
will play them as well). The filetype 'INT', which the GS player looks for,
is the default filetype for ALF song files. I just got hold of a batch of
ALF music files and they play directly without any conversion whatsoever
(that is, once you've copied them to a ProDOS disk or volume if need be).

Interesting. Those very old ALF songs I received (cira 1980)
contained all the XMAS music songs that are found on the AE disk and
MDIdeas emulator player (absolutely no difference). I suppose these
songs were in the public-domain for a number of years, and at some
point later, Applied Engineering and MDIdeas grabbed these as samples
for their hardware and software players. So it now looks as though
neither AE or MDIdeas held copyrights on most of these song files,
although with both of them out of business, it makes this an even more
trivial matter. It's just the software-emulator from MDIdeas that needs
checking into, although somehow I think it was meant as nothing more
than a public-domain/freeware demo for their SuperSonic stereo card...
