If you are using a Disk ][ controller card in a IIgs, you have to be
careful which slot it goes in. Slots 4, 5, 6 and 7 are OK (assuming
you don't need the built-in device corresponding to the slot).
If you put the card in slots 1, 2 or 3, it will not work unless the
IIgs speed is set to "Normal".
The problem is that 5.25" disk access is extremely timing critical,
and disk I/O fails if the IIgs is running in "fast" mode. There is
hardware support for slowing the computer down to "normal" speed while
a Disk ][ motor is on, but it only supports slots 4 to 7.
