The only difference I know of is that you can use a shorter cable,
which would reduce the amount of noise the ZIP picked up from the
computer.  In a ROM 03 with an 8 MHz ZIP, this shouldn't be a
significant factor.


The only other factor is that slot 2 is more useful for other types of
cards.  An accelerator can go in any slot (limited by cable length and
noise), but slot 3 cannot be used for much apart from an accelerator
or Video Overlay card.
