Re: David Ramsey, Sysop on CompuServe; complaint about cba2 post.
The following was e-mail to me on CompuServe, does anyone know who posted
the BLOCK program or ICEBOOT? Thanks!

Daniel,
I don't know if you just have some religious bias against naming your files
with the proper extensions-- which we've explained to you several times--
or if you simply like the idea of the extra work we have to do when we
merge your files. Speaking as someone who has to handle your uploads every
week, it's annoying as hell to have to go in and change file names and
write meaningful keywords for every one of your files. Handling library merges
for the Mac and Apple II forums generally take a couple of hours and it really
throws the routine off to have to hand-tweak a dozen files or so because the
uploader couldn't be bothered.
Now, aside from that, there were a few problematical files. Specifically:
BLOCK A program-design tool Uploaded to AppProg, the docs contain the
statement:
THIS PROGRAM IS NOT SHAREWARE, HONORWARE, FREEWARE or THIEFWARE. IT IS THE
PRIVATE PROPERTY OF RICHARD C.A. KING. TO DISTRIBUTE ANY COPIES OF ANY
KIND
TO ANYONE IS BOTH ILLEGAL AND A BETRAYAL OF TRUST. DON'T DO IT!
To me, this sounds like Richard C.A. King doesn't want anyone to have his
program at all. (I dunno if that's what he meant to write, but that's what it
says). I cancelled this one.
ICE Iceboot This program contains no shareware or freeware
notice, but it _does_ contain a ICEBOOT (C)1985,94 BY RON DIPPOLD notice.
Given
the lack of other notices on the software, we'd have to have your
assurance that
you have permission from the copyright holder to upload the software.
