I've never been able to get "Karateka" to boot from my ROM 01 or
ROM 3, but I was successful when I tried it from a ROM 00 GS. I should point
out though, that the ROM 00 had an old Disk ][ drive connected via the a
20-pin controller card (not the Apple 5.25 through the GS's Smartport). In
fact I'm positive it's just a smartport incompatibility problem since the
very same copy of "Karateka" refused to load on my old Apple //c! Works just
fine on my Apple ][ and ][+ machines, though I think I'll go see what
happens running it from my Apple //e with DuoDisk (simular enough to the
Apple 5.25, though again I think it's the smartport on the //c and IIgs).
A couple of games dislike the smartport, "Drol" comes to mind...
