Re: Problem converting TPro BBS from AppleCat to SSC+modem

>> In reply to a message by Gordon Ledford <gledford@fcircus.sat.tx.us>

Hello, this is Guy T. Rice. My friend Mark Hatle is posting this for me
on nyx to send you this, because I'm having a little trouble with my
Internet access at the moment. Don't send me mail through the
"fidonet.org" address that was posted a week or so ago, it quite likely
will not arrive intact, and I can't reply from that account anyways
because my boss system is having problems with his mailer. For now,
send mail here and Mark will send it to me.

Based on what you've said, I would guess that the problem lies in your
DIP switch settings on the SSC. It sounds like you have interrupts off,
and they _must_ be _on_ for TProBBS to function. However, if I remember
right (and I could be wrong, it's been over 8 years since I wrote that
driver), the "answer the phone" routine polls the card rather than using
interrupt driven I/O, so that's why it can and does receive your login
<cr>'s there, but the rest of the system seems to ignore you.

I believe the correct DIP switch settings for the Super Serial Card
are:
    >>| Down Up Down Up Up Up Up | Up Up Up Up Up Up Down |<<

Also make sure you have minimum baud rate set to 300, not to zero, as
zero is only used for systems that do not have carrier detect (such as
an Apple IIc without a proper DCD cable).

Sorry this reply took so long, but I was having mailer troubles, not to
mention the fact that it took me a long time just to recall what might
be the problem. Once you play with the DIP switches, send me mail at
this address to let me know if this fixed your problem or not.

Anyone else interested in TProBBS, your best bet for getting mail to me
reliably is to send it the old fashioned way:
