Hm. I had some trouble once with Renaissance trashing my HD when I
opeimized. Since then, I have shift-booted before optimizing, and
everything has gone well. Remember, there still are inits/das/cdevs/
etc that trash memory; shift-boot into the Finder, then launch
whatever program you're using to optimize. You DON'T need your silly
little programs that neatly sort the pixels on the SHR screen into
piles that have the chance of stepping on parts of your HD as they are
transferred into and out of memory. And, always, have a good backup!

A short comparison of the optimizers I've run on various GS's:

Renaissance. I own this, not bad. But, the "bitmap.fixer" program
has trashed the disk bitmaps one or two times. I use Mr. Fixit from
the ProSEL-8 package to make sure things are ok before optimizing.

ProSEL-16. Used when I was employed elsewhere. Interesting, maybe a
bit faster than Renaissance. More sorting options, but I'm not sure
how they would really help.

Does it even have optimizing yet? Never owned it, and the only
thing I have from Econ is a SoundMeister board, and I got one of
those just before they stopped making them.
