Having used a HP brand printer with my IIGS for the past 18 months, I don't
exactly understand why people are upset that the latest HP printers
only come with a parallel connection. To my way of thinking, it's a
blessing in disguise.

Shortly after getting my HP printer, I ran some speed tests with a 
friend that had a very similar set up. Same computer, same accellerator,
same printer, same amount of RAM in both GS and printer.
 
The only difference in our 2 systems was that he uses a serial connection,
and I use a Parallel interface connection.

Using a one page word processing document in AWGS, it took the serial
connection 4 minutes to render and print the page. The exact same
page rolled out of the printer, on my system, in 1 minute, 15 seconds.
