Reformatting Textfiles

I've got some textfiles which I got via FTP, and when I try to view them 
on my GS with various text viewers they do not resolve into proper lines and
paragraphs. I heard that this was because of how the GS does not need 
Line feeds while they are needed on IBM computers. Well, I tried various
strippers that purport to remove LFs, and while there was some improvement,
the file was still pretty difficult to read. If anyone can tell me how I 
can fix these files so that they will appear as they were meant to on the 
original platform, I'd appreciate it.
