As far as I can recall, the publishers of PWG refused to update the program
beyond GS System 4. The A+ patch you saw was a third (fourth) party effort to
try to bring the program up to date. Even so, the update effort was not carried
through in subsequent System software updates.

Your best bet is to go with Platinum Paint from Beagle Bros/Quality Computing.
