Are there any markings or writing on the board? Does it have the words
``Orange Micro'' or perhaps ``Grappler''? If it's a Super Serial Card
(SSC), that will be printed right on the board (though from what you
described, I don't think it is--a SSC has a DB-25 connector on the end
of the board).

In AppleWorks, you must set both the printer AND the interface card.
Have you tried interface cards other than the SSC? I'd try some of the
Grappler cards before giving up. (Don't forget to set the correct slot,
either! Printer cards usually go in slot 1.)

Finally, have you tried doing a PR#1 at the BASIC (``]'') prompt? [This
assumes you have the printer card in slot 1--if it's in another slot, 2
for example, use PR#2.] This will open a line directly to the printer
through the interface card. You won't be able to see what you're typing
until you hit return, when the output will be printed to the printer.
To get out of this mode, type PR#0 and hit Return.
