     This is a little misleading.  I know the original DeskJet 500 (B&W)
has a serial connection, as well as the 550c (color).   The 500c may also
have a serial port.  Unfortunately, these are being replaced by the
newer models (520 and 560) which do *not* have a serial port, and so the
original printers may be difficult to find.
     As indicated, the original poster should make sure the DEC printers
have a serial connection for easiest use.
