 help

This help file relates to HELP requests sent to:

           movie@ibmpcug.co.uk

The following is a brief listing of possible Commands
and what the Movie Database Request Server will return.
The Movie Database Server runs every couple of hours
so please be patient. During busy periods requests can take
 several hours.

Commands should be in the Body of the message.

The Subject line may be blank.

Commands in the body MUST start in the left hand column.

MULTIPLE commands are possible in a single mail message each
command needs to be on a separate line.

 Other HELP options include:

HELP ADD HELP on the ADD command to suggest additions to the
                      Movie Database.

HELP EXTRA HELP on the Advanced commands and extended
descriptions of awards and other short codes used
                      within the Movie Database.

                       -------------------

 Examples:

 MOVIE Aliens
 TITLE Doc Hollywood
 ACTOR Davis, Geena
 HELP
 HELP ADD
 HELP EXTRA

will mail back full information on the movie Aliens (Dir James Cameron)
etc. A line or a subject of HELP will return this message.
Multiple lines in a single mail message with a blank
subject will return information about all selected requests. Remeber
that for movies with the definta article in the title (The, A) that this
needs to be included in any search ie "Package, The".
For further examples see appendix B. Advanced options can be found in
 Appendix D.

Also note that the database can be installed locally on a number of
machines and operating systems see Appendix C.

 Searching the lists
 -------------------
The lists can now be searched via a mail-server interface. For details
send a message with a subject HELP to <movie@ibmpcug.co.uk>.

Alternatively, the movie database package uses the information contained on
the lists to create and search a massive movie database. The latest version
includes a new program which takes all the trouble out of installing and
maintaining the database. It also supports the new biographies and crazy
 credits lists.

The package is on the cathouse.org FTP site in the file:

   pub/cathouse/movies/database/moviedb-2.8.tar.Z

see the README file in the same directory for information on how to
 get started.

Finally, if you have access to a HTTP browser such as 'xmosaic', the database
 is available via the document:

   http://www.cm.cf.ac.uk:80/Movies/moviequery.html

This interface can also be accessed by an experimental text based browser:
telnet into info.cern.ch, and the movie database is under Subject/Movies
