Yes, Quality now owns Appleworks

Appleworks 3.0 has a known bug with printer drivers.  The
work around is to never delete the imagewriter driver, just
add your need printer usinf add a printer.  You can remove
any other printer, just not imagewriter.

If you have already removed the imagewriter you could get any number
of stange problems.  Re install appleworks
using your masters (you do have masters? I hope) and then add
your printer and that should solve the problem.

I had printer problems for years which I assumed were poorly
written printer drivers (which I thought was inexcusable
since I had gone out and got an imagewriter to eliminate
such problems).  Then I found out about this bug
and all has been fine
