Apple ][+ / Bards Tale III Help

  I have a friend who Just bought Bards Tale III for his Apple ][+ and
it didn't come with the set-up card. whenever he tries to boot it,
it says something about a configuration error. We tried to get a 
catalog off of it, but no go. Anyone out there know what he needs to do
(or possible if he should throttle the guy he bought it off of) please
respond.
