FPI is fast processor interface, going from old documentation. Dunno what CYA
is but I think it's been suggested here that it's control your Apple. The
second edition Hareware Reference only mentions FPI so CYA must be the same
pretty much.

Yes there is quite a bit of difference in the layout.

That would be cool

No the controller on the logic board is the one that's different. I don't
even use my original IIgs keyboard on the ROM 3, it's on the 01 that runs my
proline. In the Hardware Reference, it says the 01 has 3K ROM and 96 bytes
RAM dedicated to the ADB processor. Later on it says the ROM 3 has a redesigned
controller with 4K ROM.

Oh yeah one thing I forgot that I saw in the Hardware Reference. The speed
register, $C036, has an extra bit defined that 01 does not have. It's called
power-on status.

Me too. I have my ROM 3 on my desk, a 01 running the proline, and another 01
in a //e upgrade case for semi-portability. I have a VOC and sound digitizer
in it and I connect it to the TV for a monitor and do sound and video stuff
with it. I'm short a hard disk so I have to boot it from Appleshare when I
use it.
