I've been volunteered to help a friend move her life's work (she's a writer)
from her trusted, but ailing, apple iic to a new MAC. She's about to buy
a new Performa (476?). I have some experience when various MACs and I've
played with some old apple iie's many years ago, but I could use some advice
on moving her data to its new home.
There are two problems here:
1. Her apple iic has only a 5 1/4" FD. The MAC has a 3.5" FD. I have
software to allow reading/writing HD mac floppies from my IBM. Any
chance I can read the 5.25" floppies on an IBM drive? The iic is
flakey, but may live long enough to transfer files using a com package.
Any recommendations?
2. Most of the document files were done using Claris works software on the
iic. The performa comes bundled with clarisworks 2.0. I'm hoping that
once the files are physically moved, the claris software will be able
to use the old files. Any experience with similar conversions?
Thanks for any help you can offer.
