Re: appleIIc monitor problem
The IIc monitor I have has a small glass fuse inside. I have had trouble
with defecitve solder joints on the circut board (video and others).
Sometimes they can be seen, sometimes they are very hard to find. I
lookes for one for several months. The trouble was after being on for
about five to fifteen minutes the screen would go black. If I hit the
monitor on the side it would come back on for a little while. When I
removed the monitor from the case where I look at Everything it would not
always fail. The heat lamp and hair dryer did not make it fail. After
some time (months) the trouble got bad enough to fail often. I found
another bad solder joint. That is at least two for this monitor including
the video lead. That does not include the solder joints I "fixed" that
did not help my blackouts.
Sometimes wavey (sways back and forth) video can be caused by dirty power
(120VAC) or other power supply trouble. I would also try another power
outlet or circut. Try the simple things first.
