3.5" disks in general aren't particularly reliable even when you use
HD disks for HD storage...I'd hate to think of what would happen when
you use DD disks for HD storage.

(I've had files stored on 3.5" HD disks go bad more often than I can
remember...after sitting around a while, they just generate I/O errors
when I try to read them.  By comparison, the last time I had data on a
5.25" disk go bad was something like 8-10 years ago, and that was
probably the result of repeated temperature changes (taking the disk
to and from school daily in cold winter weather).)
