Re: **WANTED** System Saver

Nathan Mates (nathan@cco.caltech.edu) screamed from comp.sys.apple2:

: 2) I had problems with my system and heat, and the System Saver didn't
: seem to make much difference. But, what did do the trick was a desk fan
: (about 6 inches (15 cm for you overseas types)), pointed down at the top
: of the monitor. Don't ask my exactly why this works, but if the monitor's
: cooled, more heat can flow up and out of the GS is my theory.

I have the same solution on my end - a clip fan pointed (approx. same
distance) at the far left corner of the GS and the rear vents of my Magnavox
monitor. (I also removed an extra slot cover in the back of the GS) This way
the air can come in from the side, over the p.s., and through the back and
escape out the top of the GS.
Just another [wrong] theory that ends up working out anyway.

I ran my GS for 12 hours like this over the summer once, and the power supply
was hardly warm.
