Physical inspection is fairly simple, no?
Or do you want to know whether a connection is good?
I'm not in front of my GS at the moment, but I seem to remember that
Finder in Sys 6 (or maybe 6.01) displays the SCSI ID# when you do an
icon info on a particular partition.

Prosel 16 will do this.

Try dragging the partitions into the trash.  Make sure you boot from
another disk.
