The problem could be (if it is a ROM 1 IIGS you're talking about) too much
noise on the motherboard. I have experienced this, and sent my card back to 
Zip. They added a capacitor to fix the problem of intermittent crashes and
now the card works great ! (I've had my Zip running flawlessly for the 
last 3 years...) Let me know what Zip tells you...
