Yes, but...
The Imagewriter II uses special commands (sorry, I don't have an ImageWriter II
here, so I don't have the commands handy) for color. If you can pass the
appropriate command to the printer (naturally, the driver will not contain
these commands...you'll have to force your software to send them), you can get
it to print in color. In fact, the Imagewriter can print in about eight colors
(maybe more!)--its firmware will automatically overstrike multiple colors so
you can print in orange, purple, brown, black, blue, red, yellow, etc.
Since the printer uses standard ASCII to activate color, you can still send the
color commands to the printer and use color. Since the Itoh is not a color
printer, that driver does not (or should not, at any rate) contain the
color-mode commands. As long as you do it 'by hand', you can access all the
software features of the printer.
