Yes, thanks. I think the discQuest press release is very unclear on a lot
of thing.

: Written by Procyon, diskQuest gives you access to at LEAST 14 disks -
: more are being tested even as we speak. Although dQ lacks the ability
: to handle animations or color, you CAN read the text files, and graphic
: files are rendered in SHR Black and White.

Is the resolution in 320 or 640 mode? Or they switch (say when the data is
picture, 320, etc 640)? But if second case, what happened if the data contains
both pictures AND text?

: Using dQ is easy - as one would expect. Launch it, and you are
: presented with a dialog - you can open the disk, or search for a
: specific
: word (for instance, soldier, in the Complete Works of Shakespeare).
: The search routine proides you with a dialog list of files in which
: that word occured (If only one occurance, I believe it takes you right
: to that file) and you can pick and choose which you want (hint: don't
: look for soldier in Shakespeare - there are HUNDREDS of occurances)

But that means you are using the CD-ROM as a dictionary or encyclopedia. Isn't
it true most CD-ROM works like HyperStudio/Hypercard stacks, in which they
present you a screen at the beginning, then you move along according to the
instructions?

: dQ is amazingly fast (at least, _I_ was surprised). On my CDSC+ I
: rarely have a wait of more than a few seconds for the file to appear on
: my screen.

Do you have an accelerated GS?

: All in all, if you have a CD-ROM, or WANT a CD-ROM, This is a pretty
: dan good excuse for getting it. There are 15 KNOWN disks that work,
: and (as I said) more are being tested. General rule of thumb: if it's
: a game or involves animation, it won't work.

15 _or_ 14?

But now I don't really WANT a CD-ROM. For me, I WANT the discQuest and will
buy a CD-ROM is it is worth it.

: My advice? GET IT! for me, the Shakespeare and Sherlock Holmes CD's
: were worth the whole thing.

Not for me, unfortunately. I am looking for games (sad), music (not just audio
but with description, perhaps graphics and animations) and others. Actually
I am looking for something similar to HyperBole, if anyone remember it.
