This is almost certainly the problem.  2 MB of RAM is not very much at
_all_
for a PostScript Level 2 printer.  PostScript Level 2 eats memory much in
the same way Homer Simpson eats donuts, except that PS gives you the memory
back once the job is finished.

My first suggestions would be "use fewer fonts and don't use color," which
are two of the things that force the most complex PostScript code in the
driver.  Try using fonts that are built into the printer, too, instead of
things that have to be scaled from bitmaps, even with Pointless installed.
