The scope of this discussion has gone beyond Apple II (partially
my fault for starting it in the first place, I guess :-)

Without going into why I don't want to buy any first generation
technology (i.e. Newton,) and why when I upgrade from the 486DX,
it will be an IBM PowerPC system (instead of Apple's incarnations,
nor do I believe in all the hype about Pentium,) I will give three
very unscientific answers:

1. I will never again buy another Apple Computers, Inc. product. Period.
(The PowerPC chip doesn't count, since it's a joint venture between
IBM, Motorola, and Apple.)

2. Games are just cooler on the IBM side. (Which may become irrelavent
since PowerPC is supposed to be able to emulate other systems.)
So are applications: I hate to admit it, but Microsoft is pretty
darn good at writing applications, just not operating systems.

3. OS/2: It costs less, it does more. Okay, so I am not too fond of
System 7.x (nor cooperative multitasking in general.)

(gee, for someone who is supposed to be gone, I sure am noisy.)
