Let me get that straight: You move the file to the bottom of the list,
and while inside the sort utility, you press the Delete key? And it
gives you that error? Pretty weird. Very weird. So far, this brute-force
method has ALWAYS worked for me.

You are not, by any chance, moving them, then going out of sort and trying
to delete them? That, of course, will not work.
