You can get the ROM 3 upgrade anywhere you can turn up a logic board and
it'll cost whatever you can get it for. I bought a reconditioned ROM 3 in
early '92 and promptly yanked the 01 board out of my signature edition and
installed the ROM 3 board and mothballed the 01 board and the 03 case. Later
on I put them together and they're running my proline now.
It takes about two minutes and no tools at all to disassemble a IIgs and
remove the logic board.
I'd try the usual used hardware places to get a board. Maybe you could
convince 'em to let you trade in the 01 board. Oughtta be cheaper than when I
got the CPU only (case, power supply, and logic board) for $300 when I made
the move. ROM 3's are swell.
