proterm special

I was strolling through /etc/termcap and noticed an entry called "proterm
special". I assume that this refers to the comm program ProTerm. Is this
terminal type powerful? I normally use vt100 on a few platforms. Is proterm
special a superset of vt100's functions and is it faster than vt100?
