SCSI Gurus: HELP!

My Quantum 105S SCSI won't boot by itself. Here is the situation:

My setup: Rom 1 GS with Rev B (as in Boy) RamFAST 3.00h Roms
Seagate ST-296N HD and Quantum 105 LPS HD

My Seagate, after the initial symptoms of striction appeared, decided
to die on me last Sunday. No, it wasn't just a hard disk crash,
it was a HARD DISK CRASH! I could head LOUD grinding, sharp, high
pitch noise coming out of the drive, and now, whenever I turn it
on, it makes the same loud high pitched noise, and the seeking
takes forever. Anyway, the drive is dead. Sometimes it will
have knock really loudly, like an old car going up a hill.

I tried to take the Seagate out, and leave the Quantum by itself.
However, I found that with the Quantum the only device on the
chain, my GS/RamFast won't even see the drive. When I turn on the
computer, nothing blinks.

Also: the Seagate is the LAST physical device, and I have the
terminator packs installed on it. I removed the packs and
install them on the Quantum. When I do this (Quantum by itself,
terminator packs installed, RamFAST not supply terminator power,)
the Drive light stays on, and nothing happens.

As soon as I attach the Seagate back to the chain, then the
Quantum boots okay. I've also tried leaving the Seagate on
the SCSI chain, but unplugging the power connector to it. (emulating
a SCSI device not only.) Still no dice, the Quantum refuse to boot.

I am pulling my hair out here, people help me. It's either I
turn both of them on and endure the annoying noise from the
Seagate, or I don't get to use my HD at all!

Any ideas? Why can't the Quantum boot as the only device on line?

Thank in advance, and my follicles thank you.

Jimmy
