Six Pack is Cool!

OK, I can get easily excited over good GS software, and boy am I excited
today! The last good software I got is GNO/ME 2.0, and when today I get
my Six Pack and play around with it, I am very impressed!

To be honest, I like collecting utilities. And I do like Kangaroo and
Twilight II, but I never like the idea of buying Six Pack since most of
the utilities, one way or another, are available online. What get me into
buying this software is because it is not really expensive, and I like the
author shareware (and feel bad by not sending him shareware fees... yet :),
and curious about the "ButtonBar" I saw in GEnieLamp...

So the first thing I play with is ButtonBar. Wow, I think that is my
favorite module. Putting a list of 3D buttons anywhere on the Finder screen
and make many functions one click away! It is actially more fun than that.
I mess around with different position, and finally decided that the bottom
centre is the best position for me. And I like putting program icons on the
desktop, along the bottom but just above the ButtonBar. The ButtonBar hides
the name of the program icons, and I can place the icons really next to
each other without fearing that the text overlap! I like it a lot, but not
sure how many of you understand what I say above. :) But never mind, but
the icons look great. I like the ability to peek a file, or get more info,
or open CDev windows, all one click away, not even double clicking.

The Alarm Clock looks great, but unfortunately it does not allow me to
adjust its position and thus overlapping with Switch It menu.

CDev Alias is a little useless to me since I can use ButtonBar to easily
open the CDev window... of course it is useful outside Finder, but I got
Switch It...

CPU and Memory Use NDAs are nice little programs, but I didn't use them.
Same with Crypt. Finder tends to run slowly with all too much of enhancement,
so they are out of my harddisk. File Compare is good for comparing two
almost identical files.

I like FilePeeker. Perhaps it is just there for Finder sounds, icons or even
fonts. HotKeys will be favorable by keyboard users, but as someone who like
to do everything with mouse, I prefer ButtonBar.

Another one of my favorite is More Info. It is really cool but the minus side
is it is very similar to the shareware version.

I have been waiting for program like Print Catalog for quite some time!
SelectIcons are very good too in helping user to select files with keywords,
file types, etc!

Oh well, there is SuperDataPath. I am a Kangaroo user and still like it!
Kangaroo is not exactly a superset of SDP as many of us think. This is
because the major function of SDP - putting the user in the default folder
when the dialog box is open - is NOT handle by Kangaroo! That have a reason
too - Kangaroo is a nice companion to Transprog III, who has that feature.
I do think Kangaroo and SDP do works together as a pair, and I did not
observe any incompatibility yet.

WorkSet is better than I thought. It can also be use as a File Aliasing
program and it did that job surprising well.

Since I bought the latest version - which includes ButtonBar, I got
XtraSounds - which is excellent except it crashes too many times upon
openning. So I take it out of my harddisk, what a pity. And I got sizeUp,
something that works quite well in calculating file and folder size...
and LaunchList - that finally gives me a reason to throw away QuickLaunch!

Mmm... I think I am writing too much. Never mind. Oh, forgot to mention that
I got my SoftDisk GS #50 this week... and do like the BackDrop program...
now I have a super cool looking Finder background... with 3D buttons... Mmm...
