Can grandma use the IIe to access Internet?

Sorry to bother you all with this question.  I tried to read all of the
titles on comp.sys.apple2 to see if it had been answered but somehow 
kept quitting and starting over. I got as far as a faq, which didn't 
seem to address this question but mentioned comp.sys.apple2.comm which
is where I should probably be.  For some reason I couldn't subscribe to
this group.

Now that we have a Mac, and even the kids are used to it, I thought I
would give my old IIe to my 80 year old mom for xmas, and pop for a 
subscription to one of the commercial networking companies.  Is this
feasable?  The information card on America Online has a blank for Apple II
but I want the real dope from you all.
