Besides, he wants to turn off the MENU bar, not the STATUS bar.
To get rid of the menu bar, probably the best thing to do would be to
shut off the mouse. When you go online, the menu bar will then
disappear; it can be recalled by holding down Open-Apple.
If you're addicted to the plastic rodent, though, just park the mouse
somewhere off the menu bar. (I'd strongly recommend that you just
shut it off, though; you can get around quite easily in ProTERM using
just the keyboard.)
