TWGS question

I recently bought a used TWGS running at 10 MHz.  The previous owner had 
done all the necessary upgrades & even sent along a 50 MHz crystal, which I 
eagerly installed.  Now, my computer ran flawlessly at 10, but at 12.5 it 
crashes occasionally for no apparent reason (the aforementioned previous 
owner warned me that it might not be "stable" at that speed).  My question 
is, what causes the instability?  Is it the speed of the sRAM in the cache?  
Is it a lack of power?  Is there anything I can do to make the TWGS reliable 
at 12.5 MHz (or faster)?
