Chicago Auction (Apple Products)

For those that may be interested , attached is a message I took of the Mac
Net on prices Apple was getting at the auction they had in Chicago. There
will be one here in Boston in December, located in Framingham, Ma. If you
have any questions get back to me. Prices were:

Went to auction in Chicago yesterday. Overall the prices seemed high. A
word
about the bidding and then some examples. About 20 configurations of
machines
and printers went in lots of 10 to 250, six or seven separate times. Thus,
first lot of 10 PB 145s sold, then lots of others, then another set of
PB 145s and so on, for six hours. On each lot, people bid for right to buy
up to all fifty, say, Laserwriter IIfs. Winner could take only one, and
almost
always did (the "individual"), anyone else could then buy one or more at
that price. The rest, say 49, were then bid as one lot (i.e., you bid on
all 49 and must take all 49). Needless to say, only "dealers" got involved
in this part. (Sometimes the rest went in lots of five or ten--same idea).
Thus I will report only the "individual" bids, that is, those that people
got one machine on. Sorry for the ramble but it's hard to understand
withoug
some background.

Prices following are for first round and last round (I missed a few in the
middle)

These should give a flavor of the prices. Some never really moved, others
got much lower near the end. I left with one round to go so there may have
been changes later but mostly dealers were in charge by then.

Hope these may be helpful for those going to Boston or DC. Only real
comment
I have is that some of these prices were higher than you could get in the
shops. Unbelieveable.
