HELP!! Error $1104/AppleTalk

Hi Netters!

I hope at least the real Apple II gurus can help me with this one:

When I once backed up the files on my GS' boot partition over
AppleTalk on my PowerBooks HD, then copied the stuff back onto
the GS, something really weird happened: when booting, I got
the SYSTEM ERROR $1104 [Not a Load File], when the system tried
to load the INITs!!!

Here are my questions:

1. What happened to them with this copying back and forth?

...and even more important:
2. Is there a simple way to 'repair' them, as I don't like to
go into the hassle of searching through myriads of floppies
to find clean copies of the INITs (which works indeed...)

Any advice is welcome, except saying that it is essential to back
up the HD..... :-)
