AWGS is written with Apple's guidelines in mind, and doesn't work well
in TM.

Mainly the issue is that both sets patch the toolbox in major ways,
especially GNO/Switchit and TM. These patches are incompatible. I doubt
SHS would be willing to spend time to make their stuff compatible with
competing products, but you might ask them.
