HUH? Do you have Finder information saving on or off? If it is
off, and there is no Finder.Data file there already, of course it will be
the default size whether or not you have manually changed the size of the
window.

You must have Finder information saving on, or if it's off,
(1) hold down control when you close the window, or (2) hold down control
when you run a program, for it to save the info.. (#2 will save the whole
desktop info including open windows).

Of course. You must have had Save Finder Info _on_ at some point
when you ran a program. It keeps track of all open windows. Since you have
turned it off, it is just using the same information it used to use.

The easiest way to get around this (_highly_annoying_) problem is
to just close all windows, hold down control and double-click on a program.
When you get back to the Finder, the desktop will be saved and you're
all set. (I wish there were a much easier way to save the desktop!)
