For everyone in the market for a math coprocessor for your GS:
I just called the manufacturer of the Floating Point Engine (FPE) because
Resource Central no longer supplies the FPE. With good reason too- because
the manufacturer doesn't have any in stock. The sales rep did tell me
though that he has gotten seven to ten inquiries for the FPE in the last
TWO WEEKS. So, he said with a few more calls of interest, they might find it
profitable to make a few more of the boards.
Here are the stats he gave me:
the processor is a 68881 running at 12MHz (speed can be increased by
you electrical hackers out there)
he has a bunch of the macros and patches necessary to get programs
not written for the card to use it.
price is 249.00 and comes with some limited time warrenty.
it works with all the varieties of accelerators
So the bottom line is call the manufacturer at (410) 553-6771 if you are
interested. The rep took my name and number so he can contact me to
confirm my interest when he gets enough calls for the board.
