Mysterious Warning message w/ 6.0.1

I got this strange message, while in the finder.

The graphic screen is replaced by a text with a box that
says "Warning: Infinite loop while walking icon list
Press Return"  When you press return the desktop flashes and then
the text message is back.

What's going on?

Has anybody out there went back to 6.0 after having too many
problems with 6.0.1?
