It was written by David Empson I think.  It it's a replacement driver
for the printer port.  It will save the output to file (s) instead of
printing them.

He wrote it originally to trace some printer driver bug I believe.  And
it probably won't do much for you unless you're writing a printer driver.

It might be on cco.caltech.edu, but since it was posted to c.b.a2, it
should be on grind.isca.uiowa.edu for sure.
