Hi,

Using the extension cable to get the USB port out was one of the
options when designing iDisk, the idea was abandoned just because that
solution does not seem to be very rigid to me, you will have cables
hanging over there and I personally hate cables (That's why Bluetooth
was considered as a very important feature from the start). So to make
the USB "stick" rigid to the card, unfortunately, cutting the chassis
became the official requirement to install iDisk. Some don't mind
cutting chassis but some do. In order to keep the chassis intact when
using iDisk, a mod is going on to move the USB port inward so that USB
extension cable can be connected and extended out of the slot of the
chassis without any cutting. A drawback of this mod is that if you are
willing to cut chassis to attach the USB sticks directly to the card,
you may have problem plug out the stick without opening the upper
plate if the USB stick is short.

The mod is very simple and can be done in probably 2-3 weeks, and I
will let you folks know when it is ready.
