Re: Help! Need program that will split text files to smaller files
In a previous article, snash@magnus.acs.ohio-state.EDU (Steven E Nash) says:
>I have a 4.5 Meg text file that I would like to read. I don't know why someone
>would make a file that large, but it is the only size I can get it at.
>I read somewhere about one, but I cannot remember where I read it at.
There used to be a file called SPLITTER available at some of the archive sites.
Check on cco.caltech.edu or wuarchive.wustl.edu. An alternative, if all you
want is to read the file, is a utility called LISTER. That utility will
let you open and scroll through (forward and reverse) files of any size. It
is an 8-bit Prodos program (won't handle forked files) but should be useful.
I think it is also available on the archives. Both of these are shareware, I
believe. I remember looking at each of them but didn't keep them since I
seldom deal with such huge files that Appleworks won't handle.
