Must be a common trait amoung Apple service departments. A local dealer
charged me $80.00 after making me wait 45 min before checking out my VOC
on my GS.
All he did was turn on my GS, shut it down, pulled out the card and noted
the serial number, and then installed it in the WRONG SLOT!
After he told me that it was too complex for him to fix and that I needed
a "board swap" for $625.00CAN! Basically the dealer price for a new card.
Of course I declined.
I got my revenge later when I found out that he put the VOC in the wrong
slot. I called him up and said that my GS can no longer find the VOC and
there was no problem before he checked it out. After I hung up I waited
45 minutes to let him sweat over the thought that he might have to
replace my VOC because he might have damaged it.
Heh, boy did he sound releived when I let him know that he put it in the
wrong slot, of course he claimed it was impossible that he did, but then
he implied it was my fault for confusing him by having so many cards in
there in the first place.
Whups I kinda drifted with that...

Now I've got to keep that in mind. Very important tip.

Word of warning: A net user had already found out that that split
keyboard does NOT work on a GS. I can't remember who, but someone from
Apple responded that they never advertised that it would work on an Apple
II. Interestingly enough, Apple has never advertised that the Apple
Extended Keyboard II, the LaserWriter NTX, the StyleWriter, the
SuperDrive, and the Apple scanner would work on a GS, but they do.
